Wisma Ungku A. Aziz is the new centre for
Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA). It is located at Kelana
Jaya, Petaling Jaya and is conveniently accessed by the Lebuhraya
Damansara-Puchong. This centre is the hub for Malaysia’s cooperative movement
which serves among others, to unite all the cooperatives in this country,
provide consultation and training to its members and to represent Malaysia’s
cooperative movement.
The centre consist of a 6-storey office block and a 800-seater auditorium with
semi-basement parking. It utilises deep roof overhang, recessed window and
balcony projections to address climactical needs and to create distinct
architectural character. Simple classical architectural features were used to
form the impression of strength and stability to the institution. Strong
contrasting colours were applied to give visual impact as well as to accentuate
the form of the building.
The building costs RM 16.5 million and was completed in April 1997.
